How I work

I’ve spent my career working with words – starting in book publishing at HarperCollins, where I edited a variety of non-fiction and reference titles. Since then, I’ve worked as a freelancer, been part of a successful start-up website, managed content and led editorial teams across several websites for a corporate organisation.

Over the years, I’ve worked on subjects as diverse as growing your own, canals, cycling and all sorts of atlases, with a long spell in higher education, always with a focus on making complex information clear and useful. I’ve now returned to freelancing, offering writing, editing and project management – bringing together everything I’ve learned along the way to help clients create clear, consistent, purposeful content.

I love the craft of language, but great communication is key: listening, understanding, and collaborating. Whether I’m writing, editing or managing a project, I work calmly, carefully and with your goals in mind – so your content does its job beautifully, online or in print.

Clarity, consistency and collaboration sit at the heart of everything I do. I care about the details, but I never lose sight of the bigger picture – what and who the content is for, and how it needs to work. I’m used to delivering projects on time and on budget, and I know how to keep things moving without compromising quality.

I’m easy to work with, clear in my communication, and adaptable to what you and your project need. Whether we’re working closely together or I’m quietly keeping things running in the background, I aim to make the process smooth, thoughtful and stress-free.
